What You Can Expect

Planning Your Financial Future
Lewis Financial Management, LLC offers two types of financial planning services, which include the following:

  • Financial Advisory Consultations
  • Comprehensive Financial Planning

Financial Advisory Consultations (Available on an Hourly Basis)
Financial advice on a specific issue or situation such as retirement, cash management, inheritance, divorce, bankruptcy, estate protection, income taxes, portfolio construction, college education, specific investment types and individual investments.

Comprehensive Planning (Available on a Fixed Fee Plus Annual Percentage of AUM Basis)
You may need more than occasional consultations. Therefore, we offer comprehensive financial planning in which we utilize the highest standards of the orthodox financial planning process. In comprehensive financial planning, we guide you through six important steps:

  • Data Gathering—collecting your financial information and documents
  • Goal Setting—helping you prioritize your objectives for today and tomorrow
  • Identifying Financial Problems—reviewing your concerns and answering questions
  • A Written Financial Plan—containing solutions that allow you to realize your goals
  • Implementation—purchasing investments to build your portfolio, producing the recommended wills and trusts, executing the recommended tax strategies, etc.
  • Supervisory and Management Services—keeping you on track toward your financial independence

LFM’s Comprehensive Financial Planning service is offered on a fixed-fee basis, (i.e., non-hourly), is subject to minimum asset requirements and has three basic components: database construction, the financial plan document, and on-going financial planning.

A. Database Construction (The Heart of Your Financial Planning Process)
LFM builds and maintains a sophisticated database that integrates all aspects of your financial life, including your:

  • Assets and liabilities
  • Living expenses
  • Income sources
  • Income taxes
  • Investment portfolio
  • Insurance
  • Wills and trusts

Your personalized database gives us the power to not only track and analyze your investment portfolio, but also to analyze your:

  • Retirement cash-flow needs for financial independence
  • Estate planning needs
  • Income tax liabilities and possible strategies

B. Your Financial Plan Document (Your Roadmap)
Consider this the custom-made “roadmap” for your personalized financial planning process. Many so-called financial planners produce boilerplate financial plans from shelf software programs. Here at LFM, your financial plan document is a personalized product written by Doug Lewis. It is composed of detailed analytical reports, hypothetical projections, and specific recommendations organized into the following sections:

  • Personal Data
  • Goals and Objectives
  • Issues and Problems
  • Assumptions
  • Financial Statement Analysis and Commentary
  • Cash-Flow Analysis and Recommendations
  • Tax Analysis and Recommendations
  • Insurance Analysis and Recommendations
  • Investment Analysis and Recommendations
  • Financial Independence Feasibility Analysis and Recommendations
  • Estate Analysis and Recommendations

C. On-going Financial Planning (Continuous and Regular Supervisory and Management Services)
At LFM, we do not take discretionary control over your investment accounts, nor do we take any actions regarding your accounts unless dictated by you. Nevertheless, we recognize that we do have the on-going responsibility to review your investment plan on a regular basis and make recommendations based upon your needs and objectives. As a Comprehensive Financial Planning client, you may request that we:

  • Purchase your investments for you
  • Keep them in your name
  • Track all performances and distributions
  • Direct distributions to go directly into your bank account or into other parts of your portfolio

All Comprehensive Financial Planning clients receive on-going reports, analyses, and recommendations regarding their:

  • Investment portfolio
  • Cash-flow
  • Income taxes
  • Financial independence feasibility
  • Estate

These “Current Status Reports” are sent to the clients on a monthly basis and are included in the fixed-fee arrangement.

Future Advisory Meetings and Consultations
Once you receive your financial plan document, the next step is putting it into motion. Any plan not implemented is not really a plan. It is little more than a dream. During your financial plan presentation meeting, you will review each of the recommendations with us. Once agreed upon, you will set dates for implementation. We will have meeting dates to do the following:

  • Investments in the investment portfolio
  • Tax recommendations
  • Estate recommendations
  • Insurance recommendations
  • Any charitable trust design

Further advisory meetings, consultations, and annual reviews are included in the contract for comprehensive financial planning without additional charges. Life changes and other issues impacting your financial status might prompt you to schedule these meetings. Changes in market conditions, the economy, or the political climate might prompt us to schedule these meetings with you.
